LingoPing

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 October 2026

LingoPing is a browser extension for learning German vocabulary. This page explains what information it handles, why, and what you can do about it.

What LingoPing stores

This is stored on your device and, once you are signed in, in your account on our database (hosted by Supabase), so that it follows you to your other devices. Only you can read or change your own data.

What happens when you add a word

When you add a word (by typing it, importing a list, or selecting it on a web page and choosing "Add to LingoPing"), our server sends that word, and for a word selected on a page the sentence around it, to an AI service to write the card:

Your name, email address and browsing history are never sent to these services. The finished card content (the word, its meaning, example sentence and picture) is kept in a shared library so the next learner who adds the same word gets it instantly. The sentence from the web page is not kept in that library.

LingoPing reads a web page only at the moment you choose "Add to LingoPing" from the right-click menu, and only the selected word and the sentence around it.

Optional: your own Gemini key

If you add your own Google Gemini key in Settings for a more natural voice, the text to be read aloud is sent from your browser straight to Google under your own key. The key is stored on your device only.

What LingoPing does not do

Who processes the data

Keeping and deleting your data

Your data is kept for as long as you have an account. To delete your account and everything stored with it, write to [email protected] from the email address of your account; we delete it within 30 days. Card content in the shared library (words and their meanings) is not personal and stays.

Children

LingoPing is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date.
